Datacron

A seasonal stat boost system in SWGOH that grants tag-based bonuses (e.g. +100% Speed to Empire) and special ability effects via a three-tier skill tree. Each Datacron season lasts roughly six months and introduces a fresh pool of buffs.

Datacrons launched in 2022 as a new long-term progression system on top of mods, gear, and Relics. Each season runs for around six months and introduces a brand-new pool of Datacrons, each with three tiers (Levels 1-3, then 4-6, then 7-9) and tag-based bonuses targeting specific factions, alignments, or roles.

You roll a Datacron at random — the faction tag, base stat, and Level 3/6/9 unique abilities are gacha-style. You can spend crystals to reroll level 6 abilities, and once you commit to a path you can no longer change earlier tiers. Datacrons stack with mods, gear, and Relics, but their effects only apply to characters matching the tag (e.g. an "Empire" Datacron does nothing on a Jedi).

Strategy: focus crystals on rolling Datacrons that match the tags of your meta squads. The Level 9 abilities are season-defining — entire metas have been built around a single Level 9 Datacron such as "Once per turn, target enemy gains 100% Turn Meter, then loses 100% Turn Meter" effects. Save rerolls for the final tier; mid-tier rolls are usually not worth the crystal sink.

Datacrons rotate, so a unit that crushes one season may be unremarkable the next. Track which Datacrons synergize with your roster as soon as a new season drops — early adopters dominate the first month of the season before the meta settles.
