Cleanse
A SWGOH effect that removes negative debuffs from allied characters. Cleanse is the defensive counterpart to Dispel and is essential for surviving against debuff-heavy enemy squads (Sith, Nightsisters, Empire).
Cleanse ability text reads "Cleanse all debuffs from target ally" or "Cleanse one debuff from all allies." Each Cleanse cast removes the indicated debuffs immediately — clearing damage-over-time effects (Burn, Bleed), control debuffs (Stun, Ability Block), and stat penalties (Speed Down, Defense Down) in one go.
Important distinction: Cleanse removes DEBUFFS from ALLIES. Dispel removes BUFFS from ENEMIES. Confusing them is a classic new-player mistake — remember "Cleanse = save your team, Dispel = strip enemies."
Strategic use: Cleanse is critical against debuff-stacking squads. Padme Amidala's "Roger Roger" lead Zeta auto-cleanses her squad every turn — that single mechanic is why Padme squads dominate against Bounty Hunters, Geonosians, and other DoT-heavy teams. Jolee Bindo cleanses on heal, making him a counter to anti-Jedi debuff stacks. Old Daka cleanses on her revives.
Building a squad without any Cleanse against Nightsister or Sith squads usually means watching your team die slowly from stacked DoTs. Even one Cleanse-capable character per squad provides a massive survivability boost, especially in GAC where opponents target debuff-vulnerable units intentionally.

Dispel
A SWGOH effect that removes positive buffs from enemy characters. Dispel is the offensive counterpart to Cleanse and is critical for breaking through stacked defensive buffs like Foresight, Protection Up, or Tenacity Up.
Tenacity
A SWGOH stat that represents resistance against incoming debuffs (Stun, Daze, Speed Down, etc.). Tenacity is the defensive counterpart to Potency — the two stats subtract before the debuff roll is calculated.
Stun
A control debuff in SWGOH that makes the target skip their next turn entirely — they cannot act, cannot use abilities, and Turn Meter does not progress while stunned. Stun is one of the most powerful single-target debuffs in the game.
