Ability Block
A debuff in SWGOH that prevents the target from using Special abilities — they can only perform their basic attack while Ability Blocked. It does NOT skip their turn (unlike Stun), but neutralizes their key combat tools.
Ability Block is the "soft control" debuff. The character still acts on their turn but is restricted to basic attacks only — they cannot cast Specials, Uniques are also disabled for some kits. For characters whose value is concentrated in a single high-impact Special (think AoE damage, full-team heal, or massive buff cast), Ability Block effectively turns them into a damage-doing nobody for the duration.
Ability Block stacks well with Stun and Daze — together they neutralize a target across multiple angles. It lands based on Potency vs Tenacity, and like Stun it cannot be applied to enemies with Foresight or "cannot be Ability Blocked" inherent traits.
Key targets for Ability Block: enemy healers (without their heal Special, the squad melts), debuff/buff appliers (Padme without her Special is just an attacker), and squad leaders whose lead bonus triggers conditionally on Specials. Ignoring tanks and dunking Ability Block on the back-line support is a top GAC tactic.
Iconic Ability Block kits include Darth Sidious (Ability Block on basic), HK-47 (Ability Block on basic with droid synergies), and Grand Inquisitor (Ability Block on his Special as part of his anti-Jedi kit). Combine Ability Block + Stun for maximum disruption on a single key target.

Stun
A control debuff in SWGOH that makes the target skip their next turn entirely — they cannot act, cannot use abilities, and Turn Meter does not progress while stunned. Stun is one of the most powerful single-target debuffs in the game.
Foresight
A buff in SWGOH that grants 100% evasion against the next incoming attack and prevents most negative status effects from landing. Foresight is a signature mechanic of Jedi-themed kits and one of the strongest single-stack buffs in the game.
Cleanse
A SWGOH effect that removes negative debuffs from allied characters. Cleanse is the defensive counterpart to Dispel and is essential for surviving against debuff-heavy enemy squads (Sith, Nightsisters, Empire).
