Dispel
A SWGOH effect that removes positive buffs from enemy characters. Dispel is the offensive counterpart to Cleanse and is critical for breaking through stacked defensive buffs like Foresight, Protection Up, or Tenacity Up.
Dispel ability text reads "Dispel all buffs on target enemy" or "Dispel one buff on all enemies." Each Dispel cast removes the indicated buffs immediately — affecting both timed buffs (like Speed Up) and stacked buffs (like Foresight). Some Dispel effects are conditional ("if target has Foresight, deal X bonus damage"), making them counter-tools for specific squad types.
Important distinction: Dispel removes BUFFS from ENEMIES. Cleanse removes DEBUFFS from ALLIES. The two effects are not interchangeable. Many newer players confuse them in chat — keep them straight by remembering "Dispel = attack, Cleanse = heal."
Strategic use: Dispel is essential against squads that stack defensive buffs as their win condition. Stripping Foresight from Jedi squads, removing Protection Up from Old Republic, or clearing Tenacity Up before applying debuffs all turn unwinnable fights into clean clears. Dispel is also useful against modern GL kits that gain offensive buffs (Damage Up, Critical Chance Up) every turn.
Characters known for strong Dispel kits include Han Solo (Dispels with his basic), General Grievous (Dispels on his AoE Special), and Admiral Ackbar (Dispels on Tactical Genius Special). Build at least one Dispeler into every offensive squad — without one, certain defenses become impossible to crack.

Cleanse
A SWGOH effect that removes negative debuffs from allied characters. Cleanse is the defensive counterpart to Dispel and is essential for surviving against debuff-heavy enemy squads (Sith, Nightsisters, Empire).
Foresight
A buff in SWGOH that grants 100% evasion against the next incoming attack and prevents most negative status effects from landing. Foresight is a signature mechanic of Jedi-themed kits and one of the strongest single-stack buffs in the game.
Stun
A control debuff in SWGOH that makes the target skip their next turn entirely — they cannot act, cannot use abilities, and Turn Meter does not progress while stunned. Stun is one of the most powerful single-target debuffs in the game.
